Course Description: A supervised pharmacy experience where students develop and explore their roles within a practice setting. Practice settings (including but not limited to: hospitals, clinics, pharmacies, skilled nursing homes, long term care facilities, poison control centers, drug information services, industry, regulatory agencies, academia) will differ with respect to systems, patient or population demographics, and scope of practice. Activities predominantly do not include direct patient care.
Prerequisites: APPE standing; no more than 10 outstanding core curriculum units at the end of Winter quarter of the P3 year with consent of instructor.
Restrictions: 3rd and 4th year pharmacy students who meet the above prerequisites; cumulative GPA of > 2.0; APPE students must also have a valid California intern license; documented compliance with APPE site immunization requirements; successfully completed the HIPAA training; and successfully completed the course on Infection Control for Providers.
