Course Description: Students evaluate medical, surgical, gynecologic and non-critical trauma patients under attending supervision. There are dedicated educational sessions for rotating medical students each week. Students are expected to attend weekly EM residency conference and monthly journal club and follow-up conference while on the rotation. Hands-on training is provided with such procedures as suturing, casting, splinting, ultrasound and airway management.
Prerequisites: Completion of clinical rotations in Medicine, Pediatrics, OB-GYN and Surgery. Prerequisites can be waived at the discretion of the course director.
Restrictions: Fourth year medical students only. Rotations in the months of May-Dec. Preference will be given to those seeking a career in Emergency Medicine.
