Course Description: Develops capacity to understand and conduct systematic research on health care orgs. Covers theoretical perspectives on organizations: contingency theory, resource dependency, organizational ecology, inst. theory, networks, strategic management, economic perspectives. Perspectives are considered in the context of studies of organizations including: hospitals, HMO's, mental health agencies, nursing homes, biotech firms, and academic health centers.
