Course Description: Provides exposure to critical surgical illness in a busy ICU setting. The student serves as an acting intern, and will involve themselves in the pre, intra, and post-operative management of patients on the service. Students will learn basic principles for managing critically ill surgical patients, including ventilator management, invasive hemodynamic monitoring, invasive bedside procedures, mechanical ventilation, nutritional therapy, renal replacement therapy and ethical issues.
Prerequisites: Surgery 110
Restrictions: 4th year standing.
