Course Description: This clerkship offers experience in the management of pre and postoperative critical surgical illness in a very busy surgical ICU. The student is an acting intern on the SICU service. The clerkship is structured so the students will actively participate in evaluation and management of patients requiring invasive hemodynamic monitoring, treatment for sepsis and septic shock, mechanical ventilation, intracranial pressure monitoring metabolic and nutritional therapy and renal replacement therapy.
Prerequisites: Surgery 110
Restrictions: 4th year standing.
