Course Description: This clerkship provides an intensive exposure to a broad spectrum of conditions encountered in the practice of general surgery (i.e. biliary, gastrointestinal, pancreatic, endocrine, etc.). The students will serve as acting interns and obtain hands-on experience in the OR, ICU, ward and clinic setting and in the evaluation of ER patients. They will participate in the pre & post operative, and post hospital care of patients. Competency based evaluations are done upon completion of the clerkship.
Prerequisites: Surgery 110
Restrictions: 4th year standing.
