Course Description: Provides exposure to critically injured patients at a busy Level 1 trauma center. Students will learn to apply ATLS principals to manage injured patients presenting to the ED, and will participate in patients’ subsequent intra and post-operative care. Students will learn basic principles for managing critically injured patients in the ICU, including but not limited to vent and, intracranial hypertension management, invasive hemodynamic monitoring, invasive bedside procedures, and ethical issues.
Prerequisites: Surgery 110
Restrictions: 4th year standing.
