Course Description: Using didactic and outreach components, this elective will train and deploy a new workforce of highly skilled pharmacist patient advocates to respond to one of the most challenging new health policies, Medicare Part D. Students will focus on topics such as geriatrics, Medicare Part D, use of Medicare plan finder, health literacy, and cultural competence. These topics will be applied in a real patient scenario as part of a required outreach component.
Prerequisites: Open to all levels of Pharmacy students with preference given to multilingual students for outreach purposes.
Restrictions: Limited to 40 students
