Course Description: Word on the Wards is an interprofessional program, in collaboration with the SFGH Hospitalist Division, in which UCSF students act as health coaches for patients on the SFGH wards. This elective consists of an 8-hour training session and two clinical shifts. During the training session, students will learn about working with underserved populations, their role as a health coach, health topic content, and health coaching techniques. They will apply these skills during their clinical shifts.
Prerequisites: None
Restrictions: 1st and 2nd year students from schools of Medicine, Pharmacy, Nursing and PT are all welcome to take this course.
