Course Description: This course will provide students an in-depth understanding of the multifaceted nature of the United States firearm epidemic and will build the skills for healthcare professionals to engage patients in discussions about firearms. Sessions will address the firearm epidemic from a wide range of disciplinary perspectives including: epidemiology and social context; patient centered care; ethical, legal and policy implications; anatomy and physiology of firearms; and health systems improvement.
