Course Description: Through a variety of lectures and assignments, students prepare to provide oral health care at community health centers located in under-served communities. This course (PCC130) is the first of two lecture courses designed to foster an appreciation for community service and provide an introduction to the externship experience with emphasis on the social determinants of health and cultural competency in providing dental care to a diverse patient pool.
Prerequisites: All first- and second-year coursework
