Course Description: This course provides an exciting opportunity to do a sub-internship at a busy Level One Trauma & Burn Center, acting as the primary provider for ill and injured patients presenting to the Emergency Department with a wide variety of complaints. Our population includes patients of all ages, many ethnic and cultural backgrounds, and those suffering from problems related to addiction, homelessness, and limited access to care. Students will encounter a wide variety of disease processes.
Prerequisites: Completion of clinical rotations in Medicine, Pediatrics, OB-GYN and Surgery. Prerequisites can be waived at the discretion of the course director.
Restrictions: Fourth year medical students only. Rotations in the months of May-Dec. Preference will be given to those seeking a career in Emergency Medicine.
